Shipping to Armenia: What You Need to Know
Armenia has no coast, so U.S. vehicles sail to Poti in Georgia and stay under customs transit for the road trip across the border. They are cleared at the Northern Customs Office in Gyumri, where the importer files a declaration with the purchase invoice and, for auction cars, the auction listing and photos. A temporary plate is issued at release and the car must be registered within 15 days.
Because the cars arrive from outside the Eurasian Economic Union, they pay the union's common tariff: 15% of the customs value for new cars, 20% with a per-cm³ minimum for cars three to seven years old, and a per-cm³ rate for older ones. Cars built before 2021 also pay an environmental tax, and 20% VAT is charged on top. Armenia does not register right-hand-drive cars, which U.S. cars never are.
Key takeaway
Price Armenia by age: cars under three years pay 15% duty, three-to-seven-year-old cars 20% with a per-cm³ minimum, plus 20% VAT. Budget about 30–44 days from the East Coast to Yerevan via Poti.

By sea to Poti in Georgia, then by truck under customs transit to the Northern Customs Office in Gyumri. Ocean transit from New York/New Jersey and Savannah runs weekly, and the full trip to Yerevan takes about 30–44 days; Houston sails biweekly at 35–47 days.
The Eurasian Economic Union's common tariff for cars from outside the union: 15% of the customs value for cars under three years, 20% with a minimum per cm³ for cars three to seven years old, and a per-cm³ rate above seven years. Then 20% VAT, state fees and, for cars built before 2021, an environmental tax.
No. Armenia does not register right-hand-drive cars. U.S.-market cars are left-hand drive, so this only matters if you are buying a Japanese or British import that ended up at a U.S. auction.
Repairable auction cars are a large part of what goes to Yerevan, and customs values them from the invoice and the auction record, so keep both. Whether a repaired car passes registration depends on its condition, so send us the VIN and the damage report before you bid.
