About the terminal
How Ocean Terminal works
GPA moved Ocean Terminal's breakbulk work to Colonel's Island Terminal in Brunswick in 2023 so the 200-acre site could be rebuilt for containers. In September 2026 GPA reported the 2,650-foot renovated berth complete and working ships, with the project more than 60 percent done.
Until the first phase of the new container yard opens in mid-fall 2027, GPA is working smaller vessels at Ocean Terminal. In GPA's October 2026 schedule that meant regional services to Central America and Colombia plus a transatlantic loop to Northern Europe.
Exporters deliver to Ocean Terminal through its own truck gate, so check which terminal your booking names before dispatching a container. Receive dates and cutoffs work the same way as at Garden City.

Vessel schedule terms
- ETA · Estimated time of arrival
- When the ship is expected at its Savannah berth.
- ATA · Actual time of arrival
- When the ship actually arrived. Shown once it is alongside.
- ETD · Estimated time of departure
- When the ship is expected to finish work and sail.
- ATD · Actual time of departure
- When the ship actually sailed.
- BRD · Begin receive date
- The first day the terminal accepts export containers for this call.
- ERD · End receive date (cargo cutoff)
- The terminal's last time to accept dry export containers for the call. Reefer and hazardous cargo can have their own cutoffs.
- Locked · Receive dates locked
- GPA has fixed the BRD and ERD for the call. Before that, receive dates can still move with the ship's ETA.
- Crane class · Berth crane height
- The crane height a ship needs, A (120 ft) to D (165 ft). It decides which Garden City berths can work the ship.
- At anchor · Waiting for a berth
- The ship has arrived off Savannah and is waiting for its berth to free up. Its ETA at the berth can still change.
- Slot carrier · Carrier with space on another line's ship
- Many ships carry boxes for several lines. The vessel operator runs the ship; partners buy space on it and publish the sailing under their own names.
Ocean Terminal questions
Which services call Ocean Terminal?
The services in GPA's Ocean Terminal schedule are listed on this page and change as GPA moves calls between terminals. Today they are regional services, because GPA is working smaller vessels there until the renovated yard opens.
Does Ocean Terminal still handle breakbulk or RoRo cargo?
No. GPA moved Ocean Terminal's breakbulk cargo to Colonel's Island Terminal in Brunswick in 2023 as part of converting Ocean Terminal to containers. RoRo vehicles and machinery ship from Brunswick.
When will the Ocean Terminal renovation be finished?
GPA expects the first half of the container yard in mid-fall 2027 and the whole yard by the end of 2028, when the terminal is planned to handle 1.75 million TEU a year.
Exporting through Ocean Terminal?
We book space with the carriers on these sailings, load your cargo into a container or onto a flat rack, and deliver it to the terminal before the cutoff.
